Futerra is built on friendship. When our co-founders, Ed and Solitaire, met in 1997, they would plot ways to make sustainability more positive late into the night. They shared a deep frustration that their friends and family heard ‘sacrifice’ or ‘worthiness’ as the subtext of sustainability rather than ‘exciting’ and ‘creative’. Hope motivated them more than fear, and they suspected there were other optimists waiting to be found.
Everyone has put the world to rights over a beer with friends, but Soli and Ed turned their late-night plots into a project, and then into a successful business. They founded a change agency to gather the brightest minds to work on the world’s biggest challenges.
Since 2001, the company they created has pursued the mission of ‘making sustainable development so desirable it becomes normal’. That mission fills our team, and our work, with purpose, pride and passion.
The world has changed over the 14 years since our founding, and Futerra has played a role in changing it. Today, we’re a fiercely independent and global company. We’re majorityowned and led by women, and we are one of the UK’s first B-corps.
We believe a better world is possible, and we want to help make it happen. We feel it in our hearts, we think about it constantly in our heads, we spend our time using our skills creatively and knowledge to making it real. We are both storytellers and problems solvers.
