We helped Versuni develop a distinct sustainability strategy in line with their purpose of turning houses into homes
Challenge
Versuni is a house of brands with a purpose of turning houses into homes that markets a portfolio of incredible home appliance brands including Philips, Philips Baristina, L'Or Barista and Senseo. Having recently spun out of Royal Philips, they recognised the need to develop a distinct sustainability strategy for themselves.
Solution
To ensure that their strategy was perceived as grounded in thorough stakeholder consultation and to ensure compliance with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), we executed a comprehensive double materiality assessment. Our knowledge of trends was used in getting from the long list to the short list. We also conducted a landscape review to garner industry-specific insights into the short list of topics to be assessed and ranked by internal and external stakeholders. Subsequently, we undertook stakeholder interviews and surveys to delve deeper into identified topics, employing rigorous data and evidence-based evaluation. The output of stakeholder engagement informed the creation of a final materiality matrix, to highlight the evolution of sustainability trends across short, medium, and long-term horizons.
Impact
We conducted a double materiality assessment for Versuni to help shape leadership commitments and progress. This helped ensure that their strategy was seen as being underpinned by robust stakeholder consultation and that the business are compliant with CSRD.
